Lebron – New Era

July 25, 2015

Young, promising saxman Lebron, who certainly demonstrated on his debut release Shades and in live performances since that reLebronCD3lease that he has the “it” to be a formidable force in this business, is back with his sophomore release New Era, a powerful set of originals and covers just right for the groove in you.

Working that “get atcha” magic right from the lead track, the funky, rockin’ “Shift Change,” and tumbling right into the increasingly popular single “Red Hook” with its irresistible drive and sway, this is one saxman who we can pretty confidently count on to produce what’s needed for the musically ailing soul.

Knowing what you would like to produce and actually feeling and doing it are entirely different things. Lebron clearly knows this and easily produces and feels that vibe – and makes sure that you do, as well.

With the material and some help from his Trippin N Rhythm Records friends Julian Vaughn, David Mann, Nicholas Cole, Lin Rountree, and others, as well as featuring guitarist Nils Jiptner, it’s hard to image how this project won’t earn a high spot on the charts.

In addition to the get-your-groove-on jams, Lebron also ushers in that soft, romantic vibe like that found on “Her Hazel Eyes,” “Just Us” and “If I Could Sing.” He also offers a very worthy take on the rock classic “Boys of Summer” by The Eagles’ Don Henley, providing us with a peek into the saxman’s eclectic leanings and tastes.

Truly an album of class, funk, romance, soul, and feel-good energy. You owe it to yourself to sit down, sit back, and sail with this one. Yes, Lebron, with artists like you adding even more color to the already glistening musical canvas left by those before you, this is truly a new era. – Ronald Jackson
